Extremity massage

Massage is an important component of a rehabilitation program. It is used in acute and chronic pathologies of the musculoskeletal system, provides rapid pain relief, and improves regenerative processes in tissues.

Types of massage

Procedure instructions

Massage techniques are recommended in cases of high load on the limbs, intensive sports training, and during the rehabilitation period after injuries and surgeries.

The procedure is prescribed for diseases such as:

• classical (healthy) – relieves muscle fatigue, activates blood circulation and lymph flow, maintains physical performance;

• healthful — normalizes muscle tone, reduces pain, creates conditions for eliminating inflammation and rapid recovery;

• sports – increases the athlete's endurance and muscle strength, relieves fatigue after exertion, accelerates recovery after training or injury;

• acupressure (acupuncture) — improves the functioning of the nervous system and internal organs due to the effect on biologically active points of the body, primarily in the foot area.

The following options are distinguished according to the purpose and characteristics of the implementation:

• chronic arthritis and arthrosis during remission;

• paresis and paralysis as a result of injury, stroke, neuropathy;

• loss of skin and deep sensitivity of the extremities;

• degenerative diseases of the CNS and peripheral nerves;

• orthopedic problems: flat feet, valgus foot, heel spur

Since massage improves blood flow in the veins and arteries, it is used in cases of vascular diseases: varicose veins of the legs (with caution), obliterating atherosclerosis. The procedure is not prescribed at all stages of the disease, therefore, before performing it, a consultation with a vascular surgeon or phlebologist is necessary.

Who is contraindicated for massage?

Massage sessions are not held if:

• there are non-union fractures and other severe bone injuries;

• high body temperature and any signs of acute infection;

• bacterial, fungal and allergic dermatoses in the treated area of the body;

• severe disorders of the blood coagulation system;

• malignant neoplasms;

• decompensated cardiovascular failure;

• acute psychosis and psychomotor agitation

Before choosing a massage course, the doctor conducts a consultation with the patient, determines the state of health and the degree of damage to the musculoskeletal system. This allows you to avoid complications and adverse reactions in the post-procedural period.
